Kirby Cove, Golden Gate Bridge

This workshop does require a bit of a hike down to Kirby Cove from the parking area in the Marin Headlands. Kirby Cove is a moderately steep 1.8 mile round trip located in the Marin Headlands Golden Gate Recreation Area offering campsites, a nice beach, and great views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

We will meet at my studio and car pool to the parking area and slowly make our way down to Kirby Cove, there are many picturesque views to stop and take in and capture on the way down.

The Class

We will make our way down to the beach via the fire road located next to the parking area. The weather changes drastically at the Headlands so please be prepared (dress in layers). Along the way we will stop at different areas to capture the bridge and other areas of interest. We will work on exposure settings and other manual controls to ensure the best quality image.

We will also cover composition, focus, depth of field, sharpness, metering modes, how to use your histogram to ensure a proper exposure, and using filters and answering any questions you may have.

Recommended Gear

When shooting Landscape Photography I highly recommend bringing a sturdy tripod and some kind of shutter release, either wireless or wired. If you do not have a shutter release it is not a big deal we can use the in camera settings to release the shutter.
